MiDAS Minibus Driver TrainingThe Gloucestershire Minibus Scheme (GMS) requires all minibus drivers to have completed MiDAS training (Minibus Driving Awareness Scheme). This is a nationally accredited qualification, and ensures all drivers have reached a certain level of safety when driving a minibus. There is a minimum age of 21 for people to be minibus drivers, and potential drivers must also have the D1 minibus entitlement on their driving licences. The Gloucestershire Minibus Scheme will cover the cost for one volunteer driver from each organisation to complete the MiDAS course. To drive a bus with disabled passengers, requires completing a further part of the MiDAS scheme called “Accessibility.” To apply for MiDAS training the driver needs to complete a Driver Registration Application Form and Medical Declaration Form, which are included the GMS application pack (see downloads page). Future Training DatesMiDAS training sessions are usually held once a week.
